What is Fanconi Syndroom (FS)
Fanconi's syndrome is an inherited disease that affects the proximal renal tubule and causes
abnormalities in sodium, glucose, calcium, phosphate and amino acid retention,
sometimes leading to fatal disturbances in acid-base balance.
The disease can also be mimicked by certain toxins and drugs that affect the proximal
renal tubule and interrupt normal functioning.
